Stefan Gebhardt, former chef of Chateau Visz, continues his career in Hertelendy Kastély
The German chef Stefan Gebhardt takes over the kitchen of Relais & Châteaux Hertelendy Kastély from 1 April. He was the chef of Chateau Visz, elected for the Restaurant of the Year in 2010.
Gyenesei István Jr, director of Hertelendy Kastély pointed out: “From now on, we will serve the specialties of one of the best known chefs in the most elegant chateau of Hungary. The experience and knowledge of Stefan Gebhardt will guarantee that our guests enjoy high-class gastronomical experiences.”
Anikó Vida as sous-chef of Hertelendy Kastély will assist Stefan Gebhardt. Actually, they are a real-life couple and also worked together in Chateau Visz where Ms. Vida was Mr. Gebhardt’s sous-chef. Under the helm of Stefan Gebhardt, the restaurant of Chateau Visz was ranked first by both the Alexandra Wine and Restaurant Guide and the publication „TOP 50 Best Hungarian Restaurants” of the daily Népszabadság. Stefan Gebhardt also worked with Relais & Châteaux Burg Schlitz Castle Hotel in Germany between 2005 and 2006.
Stefan Gebhardt said: „It has long been my wish to work again in a castle that belongs to the Relais & Châteaux chain; so I am particularly happy that I can do that in Hertelendy Kastély, the only Relais & Châteaux member hotel in Hungary. With Anikó we are looking forward to leading the kitchen of Hertelendy Kastély, where the environment and the possibilities will provide additional inspiration, with particular regard to the unique organic garden.”
The predecessor of Stefan Gebhardt was Richard Nussel who led the gastronomical offering of the chateau to new peaks in quality, and secured its position among the 15 best restaurants in Hungary.
